My experience working in news organizations has taught me the true value of timeliness and accuracy in professional copy for a professional audience. This was first taught to me in my college newspaper, where I learned that one could become a valued member of the writing team by being consistent with deadlines and with the content of their work. I also learned this as a part of the editorial staff at the same institution. Writers that could not turn in work simply could not be retained in any meaningful way in a dynamic online space. Working with these institutions, I learned to be able to write flexibly for the assignment that I am given. Combined with this flexibility is my well-rounded knowledge on many topics, reinforced by both my experience in journalism and my education. Coming hand in hand with my experience as an editor in both collegiate and media source settings is my experience in being a writer in those settings. I have written in both factual and creative styles.
