I was born in Portugal. At 6 months of age, my family moved to France where I was raised and schooled. I studied Sciences in general and obtained my PhD in Microbiology and Genetics in 2006 at the Université Paul Sabatier - Toulouse III. As an undergraduate, I worked as a researcher and teacher. In 2006, I moved to the United States. For six and a half years I was a researcher at UMDNJ (now known as Rutgers University), in New Jersey. I have 4 scientific publications from my research work including one as first author. In addition, I have worked for a variety of different agencies and service providers, including VerbalizeIt, to translate and transcribe materials.
