I am a master's graduate in Chinese business and international relations. The course had a significant amount of language content, and focused heavily on reading and precision translating (Chinese to English). As a result, I have an effective grasp of newspaper-level reading and translation. In addition, my master's thesis was an 'annotated translation', which meant I needed to translate an extended piece from a Chinese publication, complete with annotations, and write an accompanying essay. I translated an academic article on the situation of rural education in China's western provinces. I received a distinction for my work. I spent most of last year working for Voluntary Services Overseas in a rural county of Gansu Province. As well as my teacher training work, I also routinely translated letters and newsletter articles. I am currently based in Lanzhou (Gansu Province, China), and am aiming to build up a portfolio of translation clients.
