Grew up in Taiwan, went to High School in Taiwan until 16. Spent the last 10 years in USA. In Taiwanese high school, we were taught and induced ancient Chinese literatures as well as the various profound meanings of a single word. I weild a convincing ability in terms of commanding the usage of Chinese idioms, adages, and anecdotes. I am still very comfortable in writing/speaking/translating English to Chinese/Taiwanese. I am very confident in distinguishing the situations where different Chinese characters, though with same pronounciation, in their respective position. I have no problem making remarks about my translations and relate them to local events, analogies and the such. Before I came to the USA 10 years ago, I was already equiped with fluent conversational English skills, as I was taught and educated in a bi-lingual environment since the early age of 4. My English abilities only improved over the past ten years, as I adopted the methods to think/speak/write in English, as close as a native English speaker a foreigner can be. Being fluently bi-lingual, I can sufficiently self-proclaim myself has having two native mother-tongues. I have no trouble switching my thoughts between Chinese and English. One thing I am particularly proud of myself, is the ability to translate documents not only accurately, but also in a fashion that both the original and translated documents will sound very "natural" to their designated readers.
