For my B.A. I wrote on many topics in literature, sociology, linguistics, history and ethnography. My thesis, "La Condamine: En el nombre de la ciencia," had as a topic Eighteenth Century Travel Writing and European Economic Expansionism in the Americas. While I wrote the thesis in Spanish, I wrote a "Precis", or a summary, in French. I also had the privilege of studying abroad in Valencia, Spain, where I obtained fluency in Spanish. Back at Rutgers, I obtained the "Certificat Pratique de Francais Commercial et Economique," a certification of my Business French skills issued by the French Chamber of Commerce. After graduating with High Honors, I worked in a gourmet bakery Paris for four months, learning about French gastronomy and perfecting my French. For my M.B.A. I moved to Miami, where I stayed for 5 years. I kept my languages alive by making foreign friends and working in bilingual settings. As Loan Consultant, I translated Spanish business plans into English, expanding my vocabulary to cover many industries. I have also worked in various aspects of real estate in Spanish and English. Today I keep my languages alive by traveling to Europe and Latin America where I read up on current polemics and business news, in addition to maintaining contacts globally with whom I frequently converse. I also enjoy reading 20th Century Latin American literature and 19th Century French literature. My sources include Webster's New World Spanish-English Dictionary, The official dictionary of the Spanish language issued by the Real Academia Espanola (Royal Spanish Academy), a Spanish-English and a French-English business dictionaries and a Larousse French-English dictionary.
