Born in Japan and raised in the US, I have had higher education in Japan and am now working in the US. This background has naturally led me to become a bilingual and to yearn for the understanding of cultural differences. For that, I am aware and capable of reading between the lines, to comprehend and interpret what the writer or author had in mind. I feel that this is a critical point when translating documents as well as it is crucial to my clients. I earned my degree in Counseling Psychology and pursued my education to earn my Master’s degree in Social Psychology. My expertise is on Human Behavior, Communications, and Intimacy. During my studies I had the chance to work as a freelance translator. My works include movie transcripts and translations (i.e. Ali Baba and the Forty Thieves, Carmen, etc.), and corporate video translations. I have also showed my competency as an interpreter at international academic conferences. After graduating, I was offered a job as an assistant producer at one of the largest film distribution companies in Japan, Tohokushinsha Film Corporation. There, I worked to provide translated works of Television hits such as Lost, Cold Case, and Gilmore Girls. Some of the movie titles include Charlie’s Angels and Shrek the Third. From working in a big production I learned the importance of teamwork and how to juggle through a tough schedule, not to mention meeting deadlines and keeping tasks organized.
