Find Your Freelancer

When you are searching for a professional online, you never want to hire someone without first knowing their capabilities. What are their qualifications? Have they done this type of work in the past? Let us help you fill in those blanks so that you can be confident in your decision.

With ServiceScape, you can browse freelance profiles and view each professional's description, credentials, portfolio, and client ratings of past projects. You can send a message that details every aspect of what you need, or set up a conference call and communicate directly with your professional. Discuss your project, exchange ideas and information, and establish a clear understanding of who they are and what they can do before committing to a transaction.

Unlike other websites that force you to post a description and wait for a response, ServiceScape projects can be set up and paid for in just a couple of steps. There is no waiting for bids or for contest submissions. Except in the case of custom projects, all aspects of project creation have been predefined and integrated into our system. All you have to do is just submit your project when you are ready, and the professional will start working on it immediately.

Projects

Submit a Project

To submit a project, you should first find a professional that you want to hire. After you find your professional, just click on the "Hire Me" button and set up your project.

You will have the option to either select a predefined service or create a custom project. If you select a predefined service, you can pay for your project immediately by using a credit card, U.S. bank transfer, PayPal®, Corporate Account, or an Invoice Account. After your payment method has been approved, the professional will start working on the project as soon as possible and will deliver it before the project's due date. If you set up a custom project, the professional will provide you with a service proposal that will have a unique price for the unique service you require. If the service proposal is unacceptable, you can always cancel the project and try something else.

Modify a Project

Did you make a mistake while submitting your project? Maybe you want to change something after thinking more about it. With ServiceScape, you can modify most aspects of your project before and after project delivery. To modify a project, simply click on the project and click on the "Modify" button. Some things can't be changed depending on the situation (for instance, you cannot change the price and due date after the final version is delivered) but everything that can be changed will be available to you.

Pause a Project

Let's say that something happens during your project and you would like to pause it until you are ready. Pausing and resuming a project is easy with ServiceScape. All you have to do is just click on the project and click on the "Standby" button. Please note that when Standby status is removed, the start date for the project will be changed to when the project is resumed and the due date will be adjusted according to the new start date. If Standby status is not removed, the project will be automatically cancelled after the first week of next month.

Cancel a Project

Do you need to cancel and refund your project? Maybe things aren't working out the way you wanted them to or your situation has changed and you don't need the work.

To request cancellation for a non-completed project, all you need to do is click on the project and click on the "Cancel" button. If your professional has not started your project, the project will be cancelled right away and any payment method you used will be refunded. If the project is in process, the professional must also agree to the cancellation request. Even though ServiceScape will submit your payment refund as soon as the project is cancelled, refunds are typically transferred by your payment processor within 2 to 5 business days, so please be patient.

If you want to cancel a completed project, you should either contact the professional whom you hired or contact ServiceScape regarding the issue. We will do our best to investigate the problem you encountered and provide a full refund if necessary.

Project Delivery

To download files that have been delivered by your professional, just click on the project and click on the new files. If these are graphic design concepts or writing drafts, you should also let your professional know if you like them or not. Sending a concept/draft response allows your professional to better understand your perspective and make the next round of concepts/drafts even better. To respond to your new concepts/drafts, simply send a message to your professional. After you send a response, Standby status will be removed for the project, the response date will be changed to the current date, and the due date for the next round of concepts/drafts will be adjusted according to the new response date.

Rate Your Professional

Providing a rating and a review after your project has been completed is a vital part of ServiceScape. It not only allows future clients to better understand your professional's capabilities, but it also gives your professional necessary feedback regarding the overall quality of his/her work. You can rate and review a completed project by clicking on the project and clicking on the "Rating" button. Whether it is a positive or a negative review, your opinion will help define how services are provided and who provides those services within ServiceScape.

Communication

Send a Message

In order to send a message to a freelancer, you should first find the professional's profile. Once you have found the profile, simply click on the "Send Message" button, write your message, and attach any files you want. When you are done composing your message, you can either send the message or save the message as a draft and send it later.

Receive a Message

When a professional sends a message to your account, you will be notified via email regarding the new message. Simply click on the message to open it and download any associated attachments. You can send a reply to the professional by clicking on the message and clicking on the "Reply" button.

Schedule a Conference Call

If you would like to talk to a professional and ServiceScape Support about your project, you can schedule a teleconference call with everyone involved. To get things started, simply click on the "Teleconference" button located within the professional's profile. ServiceScape Support will contact you as soon as possible regarding your teleconference request and will set up the call at a time and by a method that is preferred by all parties.

FAQ

Where can I find the prices?

A list of prices and services can be found within each professional's profile.

Can I have an invoice or receipt for my project?

You can download an invoice that was paid for by credit card, U.S. bank transfer, or PayPal by clicking on the project and clicking on the "Invoice" button. A receipt is sent to your email address after your payment is processed. If the invoice and receipt are insufficient proof of purchase, then you should use your credit card statement, bank statement, or PayPal statement as proof of purchase. Please note that invoices are not available for projects that are paid for by Corporate Account withdrawals because invoices already exist for the Corporate Account deposits. Invoices for Invoice Accounts are emailed on the 8th day of the month for projects that were submitted during the previous month.

How do I change my invoice?

You can change the name, company, and billing address within your invoice. To modify this information, simply go to your Settings and click on "Name", "Company", or "Address".

Why am I not receiving email notifications?

Though ServiceScape sends email notifications to you whenever something happens to your account, we cannot guarantee that an email sent from ServiceScape will be delivered to your email address. Spam filters and greylisting may delay or even prevent email delivery. If you are not receiving emails from us, please make sure that you check your spam filter for ServiceScape emails. If they are being treated as spam, you should add "@servicescape.com" to your email account's safe senders list. If you are still not receiving emails from ServiceScape, please contact your ISP regarding this issue.

Is Next-Day Delivery a 24-hour turnaround time?

Nope. Next-Day Delivery is not a 24-hour turnaround time. If you select Next-Day Delivery, project delivery will occur no later than the next day.

The professional I just hired is now unavailable. Is he/she working on my project?

Yes, the professional is working on your project. All non-completed projects submitted to a professional who is currently unavailable will be completed before their due dates. A professional who is unavailable does not want new projects. This status does not apply to current projects.

I have a large project and I can't pay for it all at once. What are my options?

In this case, we always recommend that you split up the large project into smaller parts and submit these smaller projects one by one when you are ready. Unless time is a major factor and you need the entire project done by a certain date, you can submit smaller projects every now and again and spread out the cost over time.

I accidentally submitted two duplicate projects. What should I do?

We would recommend that you cancel one of them.

A professional has submitted a service proposal. What should I do?

Sometimes a professional will propose service modifications for a project which will require additional payment, and they may also include changes to service parameters, start date, and due date. Reasons for these proposed service modifications may include miscalculation of page length (for editing, translation, or writing projects), an ill-suited selection of service and design subject (for graphic design projects), or a response to a custom project. If you require further information regarding the service proposal, please contact your professional.

When this occurs, the project will be at Standby status until you either accept or decline the service proposal. If you do not accept or decline the service proposal, the project will be automatically cancelled after the first week of next month.

How do I upload a file?

To upload a file, simply click on the "Upload File" button, select your file, and wait until uploading is complete.

How do I upload a large file?

Just do the same thing as you would uploading a normal-sized file, except wait longer. The uploading process will complete at some point depending on the size of the file and the speed of your Internet connection, so just sit back and wait.

What forms of payment do you accept?

ServiceScape accepts Visa®, MasterCard®, American Express®, U.S. bank transfers, and PayPal.

Is my payment information safe?

ServiceScape has made every effort to make your transaction secure and safe. We use the industry standard encryption protocol (SSL) to protect all of your information. Your payment data is only stored with third party gateway providers and is never part of our database. No one at ServiceScape has the ability to access your private credit card, banking, or PayPal information.

Why is my credit card statement showing declined payments as successfully processed?

If you used a credit card and entered an incorrect billing address or CSC, your card-issuing bank may show these declined credit card payments as successful. However, the declined payment attempts will be removed by your card-issuing bank tomorrow. Please check your credit card statement tomorrow after the declined payment attempts have been processed.

Do you provide editing certifications?

Yes, we provide editing certifications. Simply request the document during the project submission process and pay an additional $5.00 USD fee. When your project is delivered, you can download the editing certification by clicking on your project and clicking on the "Certification" button. These signed declarations certify that a document has been professionally edited by a ServiceScape editor.

Do you provide translation certifications?

Yes, we do. A translation certification is a hard copy of the translated document plus a signed and notarized statement from ServiceScape which attests to the accuracy of the translation. To request a translation certification, simply select the option during the project submission process and pay an additional $20.00 USD fee. After the translated version has been delivered, ServiceScape will send a signed and notarized translation certification to your mailing address. If you do not receive the document within one week after project delivery, please contact us and we will resend it immediately.

Can you send monthly invoices instead of paying upfront for services?

If your college, university, or other institution mandates that payments can only be processed via emailed invoice after services are provided, we can set up an Invoice Account that will accommodate this situation. Please contact ServiceScape for further information.

How do I use Microsoft Word® Track Changes?

Track Changes is a tool that allows you to see what modifications have been made to a document. If you hire a ServiceScape editor, the professional will probably use Track Changes during the editing process. You can read about how it works by visiting Track Changes Support.

Can my editor provide me with a clean copy also, without the Tracked Changes?

An editor can definitely provide a clean copy. If you would like a clean copy, you should request it before the professional starts working on your project.

Can my editor provide free re-editing services or do I have to submit a new project?

Each editor has his/her own policy regarding free re-editing services. Some will provide a second edit at no cost, others will provide free services on a case by case basis, and some will always want to be compensated for their additional work. You should contact the editor you are planning to hire regarding re-editing services and make sure that you are comfortable with what is and is not provided.

Will my project be kept confidential?

ServiceScape will make sure that your project will be kept confidential. Any information you submit to us will remain private. ServiceScape will only use your information for purposes that are in line with hosting freelance services. Additional information regarding how we approach your data can be found within our Privacy Policy.

Why do characters within my file come up as empty boxes or random accented letters?

If characters are not rendered properly, you probably do not have the correct language pack installed. A language pack will allow you to read foreign characters within your application. If the error is occurring within Microsoft Office®, you should download and install the appropriate Microsoft Office Language Pack. Language packs for other applications can usually be found at their respective corporate websites.
