My name is Charles Wanninger. I am a fulltime freelance editor experienced in handling all kinds of copy. I am a veteran of 40 years in the newspaper business -- first as a writer and editor, and then as a top manager. In addition to the hands-on writing and editing experience, I spent many years in senior management positions, so I have a full understanding of marketing and the business environment. As an editor, I handle all basic editing and proofreading tasks -- fixing typos, spelling, grammar, syntax, consistency and readability. I also review writing to make sure it flows easily and is always focused with the reader in mind. In addition to the newspaper work, I taught writing and editing at four different universities and served as a writing coach at a dozen newspapers. I have a BA in journalism from the University of Iowa. The bulk of my work career was with the Gannett Company, where I served in editorial positions with five different community newspapers.
