I have been an editor for more than 35 years. I was a copy editor with the Columbus (OH) Dispatch 14 years and have been with the Tribune-Review (Pittsburgh, PA) 13 years. For most of my time with these two major publications, I was assigned to the Business News desk. At the Dispatch, I wrote a Sunday column, “Easy Terms,” that explained stock tables and business terminology. I was a news reporter for three years in Parkersburg, WV, where I entered two statewide newspaper reporting contests and took first place in both. I was editor of the Cape Coral (FL) Breeze and news editor of the Southtown Economist (Chicago). I am a Vietnam veteran (Army intelligence, held a captain’s rank) and for six years was a high school and college soccer referee.
