I am a professor emeritus in the Department of Biological Sciences at Humboldt State Univ. I have a PhD in Zoology, an MS in Botany, and a BS in Biology and Chemistry. During my tenure, I acquired an MA in English to augment my skills in editing student papers and teaching professional writing in the natural sciences. I have also been the senior editor of an environmental research firm and the editor of a newsletter for a non-profit organization. I have published research articles in refereed journals, non-refereed journals, expedition reports and in camera ready specialty publications. My cv is available on my HSU web page. I am familiar with several style manuals and particularly familiar with all editions of the Style Manual of the Council of Biology Editors. I am familiar with Word, Word Perfect, and Ready,Set, Go. I can scan and use OCR (Textbridge). I do not index, at present, but can learn.
