My name is Ernesto Mestre. I am a novelist, editor, ghostwriter and translator. I have also taught as Professor of Fiction in the MFA and undergraduate programs of Sarah Lawrence College, Brooklyn College and City College of New York. I am interested in a position as an editor in your company, specializing in fiction and nonfiction manuscripts and academic dissertations. As a teacher and an editor, I have been working with young writers for almost fifteen years, helping them shape their projects and offering guidance, inspiration, craft critiques and meticulous editing on the level of an editor at any of the major publishing houses. I am glad to say that many of the manuscripts I have worked on have gone on to publication at major houses like Norton, Knopf and Harper Collins. I have published two well-received novels and the third is forthcoming in 2012. I am also a translator from Spanish to English and have recently completed my fourth novel translation, which was published in the fall of last year. I have a lot to offer in the way of coaching for fiction and nonfiction writers, as well as those writing their dissertations, but can also approach manuscripts on the level of language and general structure, as well as straightforward copyediting.
