My name is Peter Balaskas and I am writing to you in the hopes that my skills as an editor and manager of a publication company, as well as a contract-hire copy editor, can be utilized for you. I have a Masters Degree in English (double emphasis in Creative Writing and Literature). From 1999 to 2004, I balanced my work at NBC Studios with my academic studies. During this transitional period, I developed a passion for reading and copyediting stories. It is through this discovery that I honed my talents as an editor and publisher of two fiction anthologies containing the works written by my fellow graduate students. After earning my Masters Degree in 2004, I created Ex Machina Press, LLC, a Los Angeles publishing company. And for the last five years, I have led my staff to producing award-winning publications (including being awarded 2007 Publisher of the Year by the DIY Book Festival), as well as providing an outlet for their own creative endeavors in the publishing field. It is through Ex Machina Press that I have been working as a freelance copy editor, polishing and restructuring a variety of works including novels, short fiction collections, instructional manuals, and screenplays. I am presently striving for a new career venture that utilizes the multifaceted skills I gained over the years. Thank you very much for your time.
