What do you look for in an editor? A love of language, attention to detail and years of experience. I have all three in spades. As a writer, with a background in poetry and journalism, I have spent my life immersing myself in words. As a teacher of both writing and literature at a top-rated American university, I have years of helping others to master the finer points of both composition and clear, effective and beautiful communication. Finally, as an editor, I have a decade of experience working directly with authors on pieces as short as an op-ed for a national newspaper and as long as full-length manuscripts, in fields as diverse as academic studies to romance novels. I believe that part of the job of an editor is to develop relationships built on trust, which is why I often have repeat customers who use my services for each new piece of writing they produce. I also firmly believe that an editor's job consists of paying attention not only to the small details of grammar and sentence structure, although those are crucial, but to the larger thematic concerns of each and every piece of writing and to maintaining the authentic voice of each writer.
