I have worked in the field of textbook publishing for over 40 years. For many of those years my main focus was the copyediting and proofreading of medical textbooks. I have worked on books in all areas of medicine, including general medicine, surgery, orthopedics, physiology, and epidemiology. I have also edited college-level textbooks in other fields, such as the social sciences, the law, economics, and English language and literature. I have worked onsite for publishing companies and as a freelancer, most recently for Elsevier, Inc., a large medical publisher. I have also reviewed manuscripts as a developmental editor and revised long manuscripts to condense them and refocus them as grant proposals and journal articles. Editing and proofreading the work of an author who helps people write their personal memoirs has been a relatively recent and rewarding expansion of my efforts.
