Not to toot my own horn, but I've been a strong writer for as long as I can remember. As far back as second grade, I can remember being told that I had a gift, even though most of my writing still took place on that green paper with the dotted lines down the center of each line. I began to realize that I was not only a strong writer, but also a strong editor when I was in college. For reasons I cannot remember, I was frequently asked to edit my friends' and classmates' papers for them. While I never asked for anything in return, in hindsight I realize that asking for a few dollars each time probably would have prevented me from spending four years eating primarily Easy Mac and Ramen. After majoring in English and earning a Masters in Education from Boston College, I spent two years as a high school English teacher where I estimate that 40-50% of my grading time consisted of editing students' papers. I also have a strange affinity for grammar. In fact, I was one of the few members of the English Department who actually enjoyed teaching the subject. Aside from this experience, I also completed my student teaching at an urban high school where I not only sought to teach non-native English speakers proper grammar (a challenge that every teacher should experience), I also spent countless hours editing papers where English, Spanish, and Portuguese were often used interchangeably. I earned an MBA at the University of Colorado editing every group assignment I submitted since I was often the only one who felt competent as an editor, and have become the default editor at my current company where I've edited business proposals, presentations, web content, and white papers.
