I’ve been an editor/writer/proofreader since 1970, when I graduated from St. John’s College in Annapolis, Maryland and started writing speeches for the Embassy of the Republic of Korea in Washington, DC. From there I moved to New York City and honed my skills at Academic Press, the American Institute of Physics, John Wiley, Harcourt Brace, Marcel Dekker, McGraw Hill, Springer-Verlag, Braziller, and the Port Authority of New York & New Jersey. I was the managing editor of a successful science magazine for children and became a skilled typesetter and desktop publisher along the way. I also did letter-perfect proofreading of television and magazine ads for the top advertising agencies in New York. My background gives me extensive knowledge of how printed products are supposed to look and how to turn a rough manuscript into a polished work of art. Currently I work from my home office in Nebraska editing science journals electronically for Cold Spring Harbor Laboratory Press as well as the occasional romance novel or graduate thesis, and producing newsletters from scratch for local organizations. I have a Master of Science in molecular biology and am finishing a Master of Arts in English.
