Your editor can not do what you expect from him/her unless there is a full understanding of what you want. I submitted chapter one of my sci-fi fantasy book to Altair, but the changes Altair made were not what I wanted. Instead of getting upset, I wrote to Altair to see what went wrong. Come to find out, I didn’t give a clear understanding of what I wanted. So I resubmitted chapter one with a clear understanding of what I expected to see and this time the changes Altair made were what I wanted. So what I'm saying is give your edited a chance before writing him/her off. I have submitted chapter two and three to Altair.

Altair did a fine job with chapter two and three. One of my requests upon submitting my work to him was not to change the contents of the story, but to enhance it where people can follow the story clearly. I know his job is hard because he has to go by what I describe and hopefully I am very clear to what I want. I say to anyone who submit material, try to be as specific as you can of what you want done to your work. Only then can your editor do the best to accommodate your needs. I have submitted Altair chapter three and four. Altair hasn’t let me down yet.

The correctioins Altair made, even though they sound good, changed the intended meaning of my text. These corrections are useless. I am now resubmitting this job to another editor.

Altair commented more on this piece than making actual editorial corrections. If you are comfortable in your structure and grammar, I strongly recommend this editor. His comments are good and I will implement his suggestions in my writing. I hope to work again with him.
